Description:  Owner's Council Webinar Series, Session #5 of 9 - "Design-Build Process Utilizing Negotiated Selection".  This is session #5 for the 2019 Owners Council Webinar Series. The series foundation is built from the Design-Build Institute of America’s Manual of Practice. This year’s theme is “Design-Build Done Right.” A highly experienced Practitioner will present each of the 9 topics. This will be a 40min presentation of the given subject. June’s “Design-Build Process Utilizing Negotiated Selection” presentation will be done by Mr. Michael Courtney, Director, Facility Services for the Judicial Council of California. Mr. Courtney has 38 years of experience in the Design-Build marketplace as both a Public Owner and Private Sector Developer. 1997 to 2001 Mike served as the governor’s appointee for the State of California’s Real Estate and Building Program. While with the State, Mike played a key role in the development of the State’s real estate policy and design-build procurement laws, procurement process, and contracts. Mike is familiar with all forms of project delivery as a result of directly managing projects, or representing the owner in the areas or procurement, selection, contract negotiations, project procedures, and project execution. In June of 2016, Mike was appointed to lead the Judicial Council of California’s Capital Program Office which is responsible for the design and construction of court facilities throughout California. Mike now leads the Facilities Services office which oversees all real estate, maintenance, design and construction services for more than 475 court facilities throughout California. Mike is certified by the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) for his expertise.
